Student Work from Geometry Quiz

Here are some examples of student work from our Geometry mid-unit quiz. These students received a Level 4 or higher in each of these questions:

Question #1:
The coordinates of quadrilateral ABCD are A(0, 2), B(3, 1), C(3,   -2), and  D(-1, -1).
a) Draw quadrilateral ABCD.
b) Translate ABCD 2 units to the left
and 1 unit up to produce A’B’C’D’.
c) Label the coordinates
of A’B’C’D’.
Quadrilateral ABCD is plotted correctly (KU).  ABCD is translated accurately and its coordinates are labelled accurately (A).

Question #2:
Which of these images is not a reflection of the triangle ABC? Explain how you know.

The correct triangle is not only identified but this student indicated where the correct reflection of triangle ABC should be with the mirror line labelled (KU).  The student uses appropriate vocabulary (e.g., line of reflection, coordinates, y axis etc.)  to explain why she chose triangle JKL as well as why the other triangles were not chosen (C).
